Volunteering at Bestwood Country Park

The Ranger Team is always looking for enthusiastic and willing volunteers to help us look after this fascinating 700 acre remnant of Sherwood Forest. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, make friends and help the environment. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is necessary as all tools and training are provided.

Just wear suitable clothing and bring a packed lunch, willing hands and a sense of humour! Regular volunteer sessions are held every Monday (except Bank Holidays) and the first Sunday of each month. There is a waiting list for some volunteer sessions so always check ahead. There are some extra sessions arranged on some Thursdays and lists of these days are published periodically. See below for more information on each volunteer session.

For more details contact: Sue McDonald, NCC Country Parks Community Liaison Officer on 0115 9753782
or email the Ranger Team.

The Monday Volunteers

The Monday volunteers group meet every Monday to carry out practical conservation tasks in the park. This is an established group of helpers and there may be a waiting list to join so check out availability for you to attend with Sue McDonald before turning up.
Sessions run from 10am to 3pm, meeting at Alexandra Lodge.

Find out more at their "voles" page.

The Thursday Volunteers

The Thursday volunteers group meet every Thursday (except a few specified dates which are excluded from the regular timetable)  to carry out practical conservation tasks in the park.  The latest list of dates is usually posted in our news stream and you can always fine out more info by contacting Sue McDonald, NCC Country Parks Community Liaison Officer on 0115 975 3782 or email the Ranger Team.

The Sunday Volunteers

Th Sunday volunteers group meet on the first Sunday of the month to carry out practical conservation tasks in the park.
Sessions run from 10am to 3pm, meeting at Alexandra Lodge. Again this is an established group and you may need to be added to a waiting list to join in. Contact
Sue McDonald to find out if they have a space for you to come along.

The Winding House Engine Volunteers
